When you look at ABC News, FOX News, and NBC News, you only see the encore and the reporter. However, you do not see the reality of how much work they have to do. The process of filming is a lot harder then what most people expect. There are four main roles that people work hard on. The camera man, the control room staff, the encore, and lastly, the reporter. The most important thing a TV show needs is the camera. The camera man helps film and record the channel. In the studio we were in, we learned that there is usually three to five cameras. One camera is in the middle, while the rest are on the sides. On TV, you usually see the camera in the middle. The control room staff, makes sure the timing is correct and accurate. If the timing is not accurate, the whole TV show may be late by a few minutes late and not on time. The control room staff also makes sure all the cameras have the same lighting and color. Without the staff, the TV show would be a mess. The encore and the reporter are in charge of saying important news on the channel. Reporters and encores have to be loud, clear, and slow when they talk. On TV it might sound easy to be a reporter or encore, but believe me it’s not, I learned that the hard way, through experience with UChannel. So how was the experience going on TV? First of all, being on TV is very hard. I attempted to become a “reporter” on TV. It’s very stressful. You have to read through pages while smiling and looking at the camera. I stuttered so much and I was very nervous. However I enjoyed being on UChannel and found it fun and productive.
